HOW OFTEN YOU SHOULD SCHEDULE MAINTENANCE VISITS?

The greater the frequency a piece of machinery is used, the more often you will need it serviced by a trained technician. A forklift that gets heavy use might require a maintenance visit every 90 days while less frequent use may reduce the intervals of maintenance. Even if a forklift is not being used at maximum frequency it never hurts to have it serviced to maintain its optimal performance.

TEAM Group keeps copies of items serviced and inspected on file in case OSHA requests information.

In addition to the frequency and intensity of use, other factors contribute to when maintenance visits may be required.

Factors such as:

The equipment’s age
Type of work
History of maintenance and repairs
Environment of the work site

MOBILE EQUIPMENT SAFETY STANDARDS

Mobile equipment must follow specific standards for your respective industry. OSHA clearly outlines the standards and documents required to keep mobile equipment up to a minimum standard of safety. TEAM Group closely follows safety standards protocol and ensures the smooth operation of your fleets.

Every piece of mobile equipment is different. To cater to your needs, be sure to consult one of our technicians and/or aftermarket support specialist to build a personalized maintenance schedule that matches the needs of your equipment based on application, hours of use, environment, specific type of equipment, and manufacturer.

TEAM Group is proud to be compliant to OSHA, OS&H, and ISO certified.

We are constantly looking for ways to improve our safety standards. Depending on the job additional safety certifications might be required. Such as company specific onsite protocols for contractors, or providing WHIMIS and First Aid training.

HEAVY EQUIPMENT REPAIR & MAINTENANCE STRATEGIES

There are various philosophies and strategies for maintaining heavy equipment. Each approach carries a set of pros and cons in regards to price, equipment longevity and performance, and business continuity. Below are a few ways to keep your equipment maintained and ready for action.

1) Restorative Maintenance
When an abnormality is detected an inspection is promptly made, resulting in a repair to restore normal operating conditions. Costs are incurred during the downtime needed for the repair in addition to the cost of the repair itself. In the short-term this strategy reduces costs until a larger failure occurs, creating longer downtimes and greater costs.

2) Preventative & Routine Maintenance
Maintenance and repairs occur at scheduled intervals regardless of the condition of the equipment. This strategy reduces the risk of breakdowns and maintains operating for all equipment serviced. The chances and costs of expensive downtimes are reduced significantly with the investment of routine maintenance for your heavy equipment.

3) Risk-Accounted Maintenance
By using integrated analysis, measuring and testing, maintenance occurs when equipment is assessed to be at a tipping point of degradation. By making prescriptive assessments the appropriate maintenance schedule can be determined. This method seeks to maximize longevity of equipment, reduce downtimes from catastrophic failures, and increases the safety of your facility.

4) Condition Maintenance
Equipment is assessed through consistent performance inspections and necessary repairs being made continuously. The early detection of ongoing equipment evaluations of deterioration and risk of failure provide long-term benefits. The cost of maintenance and repair is reduced significantly, the downtime of failures is limited, and the optimal performance of all equipment is guaranteed.

Whichever approach best fits your business practice, TEAM Group is ready to integrate a maintenance program seamlessly into your operation.
